The Mayor's Office plays a fundamental role in local administration, carrying out public policies, managing resources and providing essential services to the community. Its responsibilities include urban planning, the promotion of local economic development, environmental management and attention to the social needs of the inhabitants. The mission of our government program is to establish a clear vision and a set of objectives and actions to improve the quality of life of the inhabitants of the islands of Providencia and Santa Catalina.
The mission of the program is centered on the well-being of the community and its sustainable development, which means that our main interest is the community, as well as the economic, social and environmental challenges we face as an administration. Our commitments include managing economic development, strengthening the agricultural and fishing sector, promoting tourism, protecting the environment, public safety, promoting education and culture, encouraging citizen participation and transparency in the management of public resources. In short, our mission is to improve the quality of life of the community through efficient and effective management of public resources.
In 10 years, the Municipality of Providencia and Santa Catalina Islands will be recognized for its tourism potential based on Raizal culture, history and the conservation of its natural wealth, for its agricultural development based on agroecological and biotechnology models, and for its artisanal fishing as an ancestral way of life. It will also be recognized for sustainable sport fishing, which will become one of its main attractions, and for the human warmth, vocation of service and sense of belonging that have always characterized us.
