The Native Films Foundation is a non-profit, community-based organization with a Raizal ethnic focus, founded in 2011 in the Archipelago of San Andrés, Providencia and Santa Catalina. Its mission is to help strengthen the territorial identity of the Raizal people through the creation, promotion and management of cultural and environmental content, with a social, community-based and participatory approach. The organization structures its work around four strategic areas: audiovisual production, training processes, outreach strategies and advertising campaigns.
Through them, it seeks to make the islands' own cultural expressions visible, promote the appropriation of intangible and natural heritage, and create tools that encourage communities to actively take part in telling their own stories. In the audiovisual field, the Foundation has led more than 20 projects highlighting cultural, environmental and social themes of the territory, several of them winners of national calls such as DOCtv Latin America, the Film Development Fund (FDC), MinTIC's Abre Cámara, Ministry of Culture Incentives, FONTV, RTVC and Teleislas.
These productions have been broadcast on national television, in cinemas, at festivals and on digital platforms, contributing to the visibility of Raizal culture and the defense of the Seaflower Biosphere Reserve. In training, it has developed processes such as Lights, Camera… Culture, aimed at young people of the Archipelago interested in audiovisual tools, and Let's See Our Culture, an initiative for screening and appropriating cultural content in community spaces.
The Foundation has also carried out communication campaigns and educational strategies in partnership with entities such as CORALINA, FONTUR, FENOGE, CAR and the Departmental Government, addressing topics such as environmental protection, coexistence, sustainable tourism and collective rights. With a committed local team and a vision of sustainable development, Native Films combines audiovisual storytelling with social transformation, using communication to strengthen the community fabric of the Archipelago.
